“WE ARE ALL MUCH MORE SIMPLY HUMAN THATN OTHERWISE.”

Dr. Chrystal Marte

PSYCHOLOGIST & POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW

My name is Dr. Chrystal Marte. I am a Clinical Psychologist and a Post-Doctoral Fellow at CPP. I believe in the healing power of a strong therapeutic bond and in fostering a safe, collaborative space where adults and couples transform insight into meaningful change.

My approach is rooted in psychodynamic and relational frameworks, helping clients feelmore whole by uncovering the roots of emotional struggles while building new, healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. I walk alongside you during times when you may feel stuck, overwhelmed by your own thoughts, or unable to break free from patterns that keep you from reaching your full potential. Together, we create a metaphorical “playground” where we reflect, explore, and experiment with new ways of being that make life more manageable. I also integrate mindfulness and present-moment strategies to help manage distress and foster resilience.

I bring my genuine self into every session, using humor, warmth, respect, and empathy to build connection. A central focus of my work is helping clients reconnect with their inner strength, clarify their values, and build a grounded, authentic sense of self. By exploring relational patterns and their roots, therapy can foster empowerment, reduce anxiety and sadness, and support lasting change. As a Latina Psychologist, I carry with me the lived experience of navigating culture, identity, and belonging. I am mindful of how race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, and other aspects of identity shape both our inner worlds and lived realities. This lens allows me to honor all facets of a client’s story while grounding our work in the common threads of the human experience.

My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Pace University. After four years coordinating research studies targeting mental health and communication styles between adults with cancer and their caregivers at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I pursued a Master’s degree in Psychology and eventually my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University’s Derner School of Psychology. My background in research and my interest in trauma resilience have fueled my curiosity about how these processes unfold in patients and shape the environments around them. My experience allows me to approach therapy with both depth and flexibility, helping adults and couples uncover patterns, navigate challenges, cultivate deeper self-understanding and more fulfilling relationships.
