“PERHAPS THE BIGGEST TRAGEDY OF OUR LIVES IS THAT FREEDOM IS POSSIBLE, YET WE CAN PASS OUR YEARS TRAPPED IN THE SAME OLD PATTERNS…WE MAY WANT TO LOVE OTHER PEOPLE WITHOUT HOLDING BACK, TO FEEL AUTHENTIC, TO BREATHE IN THE BEAUTY AROUND US, TO DANCE AND SING. YET EACH DAY WE LISTEN TO INNER VOICES THAT KEEP OUR LIFE SMALL.”

Dr. Samuel Golden

PSYCHOLOGIST

My name is Dr. Samuel Golden. In my practice, I focus on two central components of well-being: present-moment experience and connections with others.

Whether you have many fulfilling relationships or struggle with authenticity and vulnerability, I honor the trust my patients place in me. My approach is about fostering a non-judgmental connection that supports healing and independence, creating a safe haven where you can find peace in both solitude and company.

In therapy, we aim to co-create an experience where you feel connected, purposeful, and self-compassionate. Our goal is to establish a therapeutic relationship based on safety and trust, enabling us to address and ease the suffering associated with life’s challenges. Together, we will increase awareness, understanding, and acceptance of your emotions, promoting strength, expression, and freedom on your path to healing.

My educational background includes a B.S. in pre-med psychology from Loyola University New Orleans and a Psy.D. from Rutgers University. My training spans various settings, including college counseling centers and inpatient and outpatient facilities in New York, New Jersey, and New Orleans. Before joining the Center for Progressive Psychotherapy, I completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Brooklyn Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where I provided individual, group, and couples therapy. My work at the VA allowed me to support veterans and their families from diverse backgrounds across New York City.
